Advice, Support and Friendship
So many people are turning to starting their own business because of a very difficult job market. Women especially look at self employment as a flexible way to earn money around family life. Many of these women are earning way below the minimum wage and are very isolated. I want to create a group that women can rely on for sound advice, support and friendship. I want to create a safe space, or incubator if you will, for women who are starting or running their own business. SisterHub is about giving women a community of like-minded people to share and grow together. It launched in November 2017 and has grown to around 60 members. We've held talks and workshops on lots of issues and built some wonderful friendships. Our businesses are growing and the members are making like-minded friends.
I built the website from scratch, the administrative procedures, branding and website. It's difficult to survive without a living wage but this project means so much to me that I will persevere. I want to expand so that every region has a network of Sisters and Hub meetings they can turn to for advice and support.
What they say
'Attended my first Sister Hub meeting today, it was lovely to meet a variety of inspirational, motivational business women. Each individual talk was so informative. Thank you for the warm welcome and thanks to Amanda for introducing me. See you next time.'' Lisa, member
